How fast is wifi supposed to be (simple answer)

We will show the theoretical speed you can achieve with an iPhone or MacBookPro with a state of the art router (802.11ac).

Hardware

Iphone 6: 433 Mbps
Iphone 6s or Macbook Pro (2015 version) : 866.7 Mbps

Note

• Note for iPhone: We are assuming 802.11ac. Iphone 6 has 1 wifi antenna. We are using MCS9 at 80Mhz (since it only supports up to 80Mhz) with GI=0.4ns.
• The Iphone 6S has 2 antennas.
• This takes account only on the PHY rates, in another post we will go over the actual rate include the upper layers.

Note for macbook pro: We are assuming 802.11ac, 2-streams MCS9 GI=0.4ns at 80MHz.
